The Maitrek West Wind Farm is a typical southern mountainous project with variable weather conditions, hot and humid summers, and freezing winters, posing higher requirements for the environmental adaptability and stable reliability of the unit. After comprehensive research and judgment, Three Gorges Energy selected Goldwind as the project partner to install 22 5MW units and 66 6MW units for the project, with impeller diameters of 191 meters.
It is expected that the annual online electricity consumption of this project will exceed 1.4 billion kilowatt hours, which can meet the daily electricity needs of nearly 600000 families of three for one year. It can save about 450000 tons of standard coal and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 1.18 million tons annually.
The wind farm started construction on April 25, 2022. The first unit was lifted in September of that year, the first batch of units were connected to the grid for power generation in December, and the full capacity was connected to the grid for power generation on March 30, 2023. In less than 11 months of effective construction time, it broke the record for the fastest construction speed of mountain wind farms in China.
In the process of wind farm construction, due to the complex terrain and topography of the local area, large vertical gradients of mountains, and fluctuating elevations, the project construction faces complex situations such as narrow transportation roads, insufficient turning radii, long transfer routes, involving forest areas, rural houses, and power communication lines, making construction difficult.
Under the overall planning of Three Gorges Energy, the Goldwind team, together with the Three Gorges Energy Construction and Management Center and the Three Gorges Energy Yunnan Branch, worked together with partners such as Power Construction Corporation of China Kunming Design&Research Institute, participating units, and transportation units to solve the difficulties in project construction, repeatedly surveyed the transportation routes, and formed the optimal road reconstruction and transportation scheme to ensure the traffic safety of equipment and jointly promote the orderly and efficient completion of the project.
During the project debugging and grid connection period, there were frequent strong winds. To ensure the project was grid connected as scheduled, the project team completed the dynamic debugging and grid connection of 54 units out of the 88 units on site in March 2023, successfully achieving the client's goal of full capacity grid connection within March. Since grid connected power generation, the project units have performed well. Taking May 2023 as an example, Goldwind Milesi Project will generate 151 million kilowatt hours of electricity, 275 hours of equivalent full power generation hours, which will bring outstanding power generation benefits.
Based on the deep understanding of local natural conditions, Goldwind Technology's 6MW unit with the largest single unit capacity, the highest tower height, the longest blade and the largest lifting capacity is used in the project. The impeller diameter of the unit is 191 meters, the blade length is 93 meters, the tower height is 110 meters/120 meters, and the maximum lifting capacity is 150 tons.
The unit adopts bending moment decoupling structure design and yaw Slip ring, with excellent power generation capacity and efficient dispatching response. Relying on the concept of platform based design, the modular application of main components is achieved, and customized combination schemes for different capacity and tower weight configurations are carried out based on the wind resource conditions of different machine positions. At the same time, we have achieved a comprehensive upgrade in intelligent perception, intelligent diagnosis, and intelligent collaboration, equipped with LiDAR and headroom sensors, and relying on advanced control systems to make the crew smarter. With strong scene adaptability, we have achieved batch installation in most regions of the country and stable operation, gaining market recognition.
To the south of colorful clouds, wind brings forth green energy. With high-quality products and services, Goldwind has always been working with customers to create one benchmark project after another with outstanding performance, to help local energy transformation, and to light up thousands of lights with clean electricity.
